Sojourn of Return Residency in Dakar + La Petite Côte, Senegal

Fall Residency: November 2024 | December 2024

Known for its lively markets + rich musical culture, Senegal’s capital city, Dakar, boasts beautiful colonial architecture, secluded beaches blessed with world-famous surf breaks, + remote riverine deltas teeming with wildlife. Located south of Dakar between the Cape Verde peninsula and the Sine-Saloum, La Petite Côte is a section of the Senegalese coastline. It’s lined with giant baobabs, blue sea water, pristine sandy beaches, and constant sun.

During this 15-day + 14-night residency, literary and visual artists first spend time in Dakar, where they acclimate to the change in time + energetic vibration in Dakar’s bustle. Artists-in-residence visit the Island of Gorée, the African Renaissance Monument, the Museum of Black Civilizations, + more. After Dakar, artists-in-residence head to La Petite Côte where they enjoy a large villa with a private swimming pool and excursions to Saly, Bandia, Somone, + more. In La Petite Côte, artists-in-residence dig into their art and creativity, as well as rest + relaxation.
